Hi!
I know all about the PA-A1-OC3SM for c72xx/75xx platform issues and it's lack
of on-card buffer and horrible behavior when under "heavy" load (UDP flood
with short packets, reliability drops). I was hoping that when I upgrade the
NPE on the c7206VXR from NPE400 to NPEG-1, it would compensate and resolve at
least a bit of the troubles caused by the lousiest PA in Cisco history.
Happily, I insert the new NPEG-1, power-on, no-shut the interface input the
PVC and.... lock. Console output is full with greeting messages that says:
RxFreeze......
Make a long story short, I came to a conclusion that NPEG-1 doesn't support
the PA-A1, since also Cisco recommends that You should replace the PA-A1 with
PA-A3 (buffers inside).
And, I would appreciate tips in making this combination work (other than
replace it with PA-A3), or, if there is no cure, at least I shared my
problems with You. :)
Aleksandar.
