[c-nsp] Gigabit Etherchannel on 4500

Hi,
 
I was browsing the list archives and I've found an e-mail stating that you would only have even distribution on port channels if you have 2^n interfaces in the bundle (where n=1,2,3...).
 
Does anybody know if there's any other consideration or restriction to configure an etherchannel using 3 interfaces between two 4500 switches?
