How does GSR LC memory consumption compare to VIP memory consumption?

In other words, if we're typically comfortable with 128MB in VIP2-50s, 
where would we be sitting with 128MB in GSR LCs?  At what point does/did 
128MB go boom?

Is the LC memory limit specific by Engine type, or specific to the 
individual LC flavor?
