depending on what device is on the other end, it may not be able to tell
the 5500 that it really wants to do channeling - for example 3500XLs 
won't do it, so the 5500 doesn't know.

The setting you've made is to let the switch know "if there are devices
on 7/1-7/4 that want to do channeling, 1+2 is *one* group, and 3+4 is
a different one".
