I've been using the no-brand blue ones that contain Prolific PL2303  
chipsets, with flawless results on both OS X and Linux.

OS X drivers here:

For Linux, drivers ship with the mainline kernel as pl2303.ko (which  
will probably be loaded automatically if you have a late-model  
distribution).
