The gigabit Ethernet wavelengths are standardized... SX is 850nm, LX/LH is
1310nm, and the "ZX" (the really long reach 70-100km stuff) is 1550nm. The
wavelengths are determined by the various operating windows which are a
physical characteristic of the fiber optic strand, so it's not something
the marketers can play with.

This of course assumes you're not talking about CWDM or DWDM optics...
