Not sure I follow. Since 40Gbit/sec per slot is a fundamental limit of 
the platform, I don't see the point in letting it "bother" me.

6716 had the best cost/benefit given our planned usage and existing 
topology.

You can always run the cards in "performance" mode, as you can with the 
6708.
