Yeah we also use MUX-UNI on 6500s and 7600s and it works fine for us.

As Somphong said, you need to pop the VLAN tag on the ASR901. The
6500s/7600s implicitly POP the incoming VLAN tag / PUSH on egress. The
ASR901s/ASR920s/ASR9000s etc. need this to be explicitly configured.
