[cisco-voip] "Internal" Phone Number Mask

One of the 'cardinal' rules of telephony I've been told, is that any number that calls you should be dialable by you, even if redirected somewhere else.

The issue at hand is that hte helpdesk employee will inevitably pick up their personal line and dial out. With a translation pattern masking their calling number ID to the help desk number, it allows people to contact them.

We simply have two lines on the phone. ;)

How about 2 partitions..1 for Help Desk employees and 1 for users. Then have 2 different Calling search spaces for the groups. Help Desk can call all partitions (just like now), Users can call all partitions except the one where the help desk phones are located. The main Help Desk line would be in the user partition so they can dial that. A little bit of work but that should do the trick...

The only solution I've found for this is to create a translation pattern that matches all outbound calls from this phone/line and then apply a mask on the translation pattern.

We have a situation where our helpdesk staff is getting too many calls
directly to their desks. We want to change the extensions to stop this,
but when they call out to someone, we want the internal called party to
see the call as coming from the helpdesk dispatch number rather than the
    individual's newly hidden extension number.

Any ideas how best to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

    Robert
