[cisco-voip] H323 and MGCP simultaneously on gateway?

H.323 and MGCP is supported. I had a need to do that on a gateway last
year and opened a TAC case just to find out if it was supported and I
was told yes. As long as there are separate interfaces MGCP can control
some and H.323 can control the others.

Do you know if it's a supported config? This is going to go on a
production gateway.

That should work, as long as the interface isn't under MGCP control, you
should be okay to run H.323 on it.

However,
Theoretically, if you had H.323 dial-peers (without the service mgcp),
they should match any H.323 calls that hit the gateway.
So, if you created two different route-lists one for MGCP and one for
H.323 and sent calls to the same gateway, they both should work.
HOWEVER,
If the controller T1 says service mgcp after the timeslots command,
there is a high probability that H.323 will NOT work (as the circuit is
being controlled by CCM).
What could work is if you had a PRI and a T1 CAS and controlled the PRI
via MGCP and the T1 CAS via H.323...
But I would need to see it actually doing stuff before believing it
would work...

So, I guess that wouldn't be 'simultaneously...'

I have done it.
Configured both and set the H.323 as a second choice on the route list,
and then killed MGCP, calls still worked fine.

Can you? I guess the better question is if it's supported.
