[cisco-voip] 7970 Line Appearance

There are many ways to have a "second extension". But the 200 calls you
refer to actually is for the whole phone. Not per line. The amount of
calls you can have on the line is set per line. That number comes out of
the 200 "pool" you have for the phone.

The other buttons on the phone can be like you said can be as speed
dials.

They can also be shared extensions of other phones you want to monitor
(like an old school busy lamp field).

They can also be setup as service url buttons.

I have personally set them up to use all 8 of them, and make it pass a
busy call from one "line" to the other. It's a bit easier to flip
between multiple calls at once. (works great for operators)

Subject: [cisco-voip] 7970 Line Appearance

What is the benefit of having the second appearance of the extension on
the
7970 phone?
The single line can support something like 200 calls, but the default
phone
has two lines and
4 speed dials, wondering what advantage or disadvantage to have the
second
line appearance
of the extension. I also find that the second line appearance must be
in a
different partition.
