[cisco-voip] Upgrade from CCM3.3 and CRS 3.1 to CCM5.1 and CRS 4.5

I believe the lack of upgrades is because of the different trains and base for development. It's a double edged sword, if we as 4.x users want more features, than we are going to have to forgo upgrades to the most recent versions of the next train. Otherwise, they would simply say development for 4.x has stopped, go to 5.x for new features.

I am pretty sure it wasn't done just to piss me off.

However, I think it is pretty short-sighted of Cisco to do this...

However, I have gone back to the customer, and he has agreed to only upgrade to 4.1(3) and IPCC 4.0

Interesting, a LOT of customers are staying away from 4.2 because there is no upgrade to 5.0 or 5.1... which I think is kind of idiotic (by the time they do decide to upgrade, CCM 5.2 (or whatever the new path from 4.2 is...) will be out.

Where is it written that you have to upgrade to CCM 5? Last I
checked CM 4 is still out there.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to upgrade.
However if you are looking to do so and use IPCC this is something
that should weigh into your decision. I'm sure it is playing a big
factor for a lot of customers.

I don't support IPCC so I can't offer any explanation of why the
upgrade path is like it is. I'm sure it wasn't done just to piss
    you off though.

CRS 4.5(2) from CRS Releases 3.1, 3.5 or 4.0; only a fresh install of
    CRS 4.5(2) is supported."

Is Cisco out of its mind? Are they high?

They want all of these customers to upgrade to CCM 5, but they offer
    no upgrade path for IPCC?

    This CANNOT be accurate.

    That's ridiculous.

Why would have them install a separate CCM cluster for a call center
    with 15 agents?

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm seriously considering that IPCC
users be put on a seperate cluster. Upgrade the cluster only when
necessary. When we last talked to our Cisco team there seemed to be
no light at the end of the tunnel with respect to concurrent support
    for previous versions of IPCC.

    Curious...

I know I need to upgrade them to CCM4.1 before I can go to 5.1..

Do I need to go to IPCC 4.0 before 4.5, or can I go straight from
    CRS3.1 to 4.5 ?

And is it really an upgrade or is it some disaster-fest, where I need
    to rebuild the IPCC applications.
