[cisco-voip] DST Problems

Yea, I was getting mixed information on the one with the 7970s but in meantime they had updated to 4.1(3) ES100 for the 7970/71 Url to long remote scripting error and that also fixed the phone time issues they were seeing earlier this morning on some phones.
Thanks

Chris you are correct! The patch in reality is just a
workaround. SO if you apply something that modified the DST data in SQL then you
will need to reapply. ALL current ES & upcoming SR's will have the CCM DST
adjustments so no need as long as you have the latest going forward from
this week.
I just saw one issue where the DST patch was applied &
it did NOT update SQL. So far this is an isolated case. But to check for this
you would need to run a SQL query to pull all the data out of the TypeTimeZone
table. All us time zones would need to have dstdate = "0/3/0/2,2:0:0:0". Pre update it was
"0/4/0/1,2:0:0:0".
select * from TypeTimeZone

I would think you should
re-apply the DST patch after any other update.
Just my 2 cents.

We are also seeing same problem with phones across multiple customers who
did the DST updates. Have one with all 7970s on 8.2(1) (devpack39) and not
working and they did DST patch.
Have others with older model phones
(7940/7960/etc) and not getting right time.
Question, if they did CCM
updates to 4.1(3)sr4d then did Devpack36 initially, then CCM DST patch, then
they applied newer DevPack 39 does this break DST?

Is this patch: ciscocm.4-1-3-2007-DST-Update.1-0-1.exe the same as the
above listed JRE patch: ciscocm-2007-JRE-DST-Update.1-0-1.exe ?
Still no response on my end...Phones still have
"workaround time"

I do not know if the restriction of uninstalling is accurate
but if the
doc says it then do it. Regardless if you are updating the
servers & the
final upgrade does not contain the DST updates then you
will need to
install the DST update again.
The phone gets time as
you have described. However I have see that the
CCM is not sending the
phone the correct time.
You can put the phones in a new DST group that
is in another TZ that
will force the phones to update the time. If the
phones are CST put them
in a DTG that is
est.

Right on the JRE update. As for CCM, I'm going to
first install the
explicit DST CCM patch and see what
happens. The FN says that the patch
must be uninstalled when
upgrading CCM, but I think that's only when
upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2, for
example. Not clear what its interaction
with other upgrades
might be, and not clear what it does, if it only
affects the SQL
database. Making a DatTime group for the phones strikes
me as a
last resort.
Could you refresh us on how the 7960 gets its
time? If it's registered
with a Subscriber, doesn't it get the
time from the Subscriber when it
goes on-hook? How do the DST
patch and the SQL database come into play?
If I install the DST patch on
the Publisher, how does the new SQL data
get propogated to wherever it
needs to go?

I see that
you did not apply the JRE update. But that would not affect
the
phones.
Seems to be a pattern forming here... The 2nd gen phones get
the time
directly from CCM. The DST updates only update the SQL DB not any
CCM
code. You could potentially make a DatTime group for the phones,
setting
the time correctly. Or you could restart the CCM service to give
CCM a
kick start.

Mike - Looked at the document you referred to below, and it
appears that
we should be compliant:
I have the following installed on
all CCM's:
OS version: 2000.4.4(sr3)
CCM version: 4.1(3)sr4d
CCM
4.1(3)- 2007-DST-Update.1-0-1
CCM4-1-DevPack-38.1
What am I
missing???

Mike,
4.1.3
sr2 does NOT have the CCM updates for DST. You would need to
either upgrade
to sr4D, later ES or the DST patch with the phone loads:

We're in the same boat. Running 4.1(3)sr2, with
OS
win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-3a-sr9, which according to FN 62669
should
include the DST patch. Using DevPack 39 plus 8.0(5) load for
7940/7960.
Time on the Call Manager servers is correct, but the phones
(same models
as Cathy's) are an hour behind.
