[cisco-voip] SMDI CM 5.1 - USB only?

Has anyone had any luck setting up SMDI directly to CM in 5.x, I'm
running a vg224 and SMDI directly to CM is my only option? According
to the service parameters it only supports serial through USB0 or USB1
rather then the onboard com port. Is there a cisco approved USB to
serial adapter for this? If USB is my only option I'm concerned with
chasing my tail on a "SMDI issue" and having it turn out to be a
driver problem? Are there any docs out there that outline CMI
configuration on CM5.x? I've check the normal places (SRND,System,
admin guide) and this doesn't appear to be covered in any detail.
