never mind #2, forgot adding a DN is a seperate task.
still wondering about shutting down the port though.

Thanks Wes and Ryan. Two questions...
a.. if i configure dial-peers for each port and then just shut down the port, is that sufficient?
b.. how do i configure the ports in CCM without a DN?

I'd guess they will cause transients and enough of these can cause an impact to the server, depending on how fast the devices are trying to register.
Just as with a VG248 I'd very much recommend shutting down any ports not in use. Alternatively you can configure them in CCM but not give them a DN.

In order to get a vg224 port to register I had to put:
dial-peer voice 223 pots
service stcapp
port 2/23
Is there any caveat with putting this on all ports whether they are configured in CCM or not? If I do, do they result in transient connections?
