OK, figured it out.
Someone, years ago, renamed the server... I went thru SQL and the Registry
and fixed it... took a few hours... but if anyone is curious, I have a
procedure to change the hostname on CCM... just be advised, I am sure TAC
will not support it, but I had one of our SQL gurus do it.... and he
performed a miracle (and the theoretically impossible...)
Funny thing, the server is up, stable and happy... SQL is performing
flawlessly and the web pages are loading faster than ever.
