So if they don't get you in the wallet with UCSS, they'll get you with SaaS. :(

This is where software as a service (e.g. Microsoft Exchange Online,
Salesforce.com, Oracle E-Business Suite) makes more sense. I've been
with organizations that bougnt/installed Siebel where by the time you
finished customizing 5.0 you had to move to Siebel 6.0, 7.0, etc.

In the Internet age, where you compete with companies that innovate
every 12-18 months you lose opportunity with 18/9mths.

More Frequent? I Truly believe Cisco is not listening to their users.
I talked with PM's at Ciptug 2007 in Austin and everyone in a small
behind the doors room wanted Cisco to slow down the roll outs to
18months / 9months(major / Minor). Not 9monts / 3monts

Hi Scott,

Actually, CUCM 6.0 has already announced EoL. However, announcing EoL
means
that Cisco will still perform SW maintenance for another 18 months. So
you
are not in as big of a spot as you think you are.

CUCM 6.0 will still have software maintenance until May 2, 2010 and CUCM
6.1
will go even farther since it hasn't announced EoL yet.

You can keep up-to-date here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/prod_eol_notices_li
st.h
tml

The net-net is that the EoL announcement is not the end of support. But
yes,
we are releasing many more versions, much more quickly now and as a
result,
EoL announcements will be more frequent also.
