[cisco-voip] How do I diag bad ports on a VG224?

I had the same thing happen on 2 different VG224 out of 6 (all new boxes), multiple ports did not work, had hum or static.

I opened TAC case, took several days to troubleshoot. Replaced both units and everything started working again.

I've had this happen on a few occasions. Even after resetting the box and unplugging the cables, still no go. I had to replace the box.

Be forewarned though, replacing the box may not be as simple as changing the MAC address depending on what version you are running. I had to recreate all the ports.

I have a VG224 with four ports that have no dialtone on them.

they all used to work, and now have either silence or a loud hum on them.

I've detached the station side wiring from the 66-block, and the hum persists.

Ports 2/8 through 2/11 are dead, and I'm suspicious of lightning or something like that, since we've had some other events in the last few weeks.

But I don't see anything in post like the errors you'd you'd normally see in a Catalyst switch with a blown ASIC

(the sort of thing that takes down four ports all at one time)

Externally, this VG is acting like four ports are blown, but not showing any errors?

Anyone? Got some hardware troubleshooting methods and processes for the VG 224 series of gateways?

I'd like to have some sort of cut-&-paste info to put into a TAC case beyond the serial number of the unit.
