[cisco-voip] Change WAV format

Neal,

I am looking to change the format of the audio files when someone leaves a voicemail. When I go into Unity tools depot and use the set record format I am looking at several options. I am currently using:
CCITT u-Law
8.000 kHz, 8 Bit, Mono 7kb/sec

I am looking at the other formats; for example, Windows Media Audio V2 records at less than a kb per second.

I am looking to reduce the amount of space voicemails are taking up on exchange.

If you are trying to make them smaller, use the G.711 A-Law, G.711 Mu-Law are the ones that you want. Please not the will most likely lose some call quality. Let us know what software you are going to use, I might need to do a few files myself.

How many files are you going to convert?

I have been tasked with making the voicemail WAV files smaller. Does anyone have any recommendations on which format to use? I do not want to change it and cause issues for the clients.
