Still some vendors offer the serial port you have to just order the
correct P/N "HP is an example"

Regarding the converter I have one from Radio Shack and it is really
working great with me till now.

So if I'm looking for a new laptop, is there any manufacturers that
still have a Com port on them?

 

Has everyone just resorted to usb to Serial connectors?  I've used them
but find them to be somewhat problematic.  Which is the best ones out
there?
