If the ATA (being FXS) is connected to the MGCP FXO port then it *should* work just fine, assuming both the ATA and the MGCP port get registered.
For an MGCP FXO getting registered has nothing to do with there being anything connected on the other end. Basically you just need to have a pots dial-peer with the 'service mgcpapp' and port for the FXO for MGCP to control it. Other than that the MGCP config is no different than any other endpoint.

that won't work. an ATA is an FXS port. you need a line from the CO, like a fax line. or, one of those cool Adtran devices.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Test environment
I don’t currently have any POTs lines available for my CUCM test environment, so I’m using my production CUCM with an ATA to provide an analog line to my MGCP Gateway in my test environment. I can’t get the MGCP FXO port to register in CUCM, is this because I’m using an ATA instead of true POTs lines? Is this not possible to do?
Thanks,
Tim Huffman
