Are we talking about licensing as I know it (on 7.x) or is this some new scheme?

John,
The gripe about 15.x code being licensed is completely unfounded.
I am a consultant so end up dealing with it first hand every day. Yes it sucks that we now need to go through the process of license activation. However the only reason that is the case is because of people not following the rules to begin with.
Also as long as the box is ordered correctly to begin with the license is already activated from the factory.
The only people they hurt when they moved to this model were people who simply stole the code to begin with. The only exception is when a device goes RMA you must work with TAC to get the license rehomed. However you are already working with them to get a replacement device so they take care of it right away anyway.

I wouldn't count on it. Cisco is getting worse than Microsoft about licensing. Have you tried to run 15.x code?

Hopefully we can still perform the demo install with VMWare. It's useful for staging and recreating certain configurations.
