[cisco-voip] Unity Connection Distribution lists

I just tested my call handlers that send calls to directory handlers.

If the directory handler is voice enabled, you should hear "Who would you like to call", not "Enter the last and first name of the person...."

I found a document that explains to use a call handler (with a recorded greeting) to tell the caller what to do, and then pass it over to the directory handler… but that still gives them the first/last name prompt. Appreciate your help, let me know what you find out tomorrow.

Not off the top of my head. However, I know that dir handlers can be configured for voice dialing, which should remove the prompt.

Will have to look tomorrow.

Works perfectly, thanks. Second part of the question, any idea how to replace the prompt which says “Spell the first and last name, then press #”. This is Unity Connection 7.x.

Try creating a dir handler that searches partitions.

I completely missed the check box when creating the Distribution list that was “Allow Contacts”. I have enabled it and saved the setting. However, when I click the “Add contacts” button I get “Found 0 Contact(s) That Can Be Added to List”

Contacts are the way to go, although you lose some functionality when you use contact vs. mailbox.

It's been a while since I looked at it, but not sure if there's anything special on the directory handler config to say look at contacts.

Hello list,

I am looking for a way of building a “dial by name” directory in Unity Connection for phone numbers that don’t exist at mailboxes in Unity. I’ve created a Directory Handler, which looks to a Distribution List… however, I thought I’d be able to add Contacts to this list but that isn’t possible. Do I need to create empty mailboxes (set to not accept messages) for this purpose or is where some better way?

Also, then can I change the Directory Handler prompt to not say “spell the first and last name” as ideally I really need it to say “Spell the community name”…

Corbett.
