The deployment guide for Cisco Mobile 8 just recently posted. It has a
section specifically on why to use one version over the other.

I am giving it a lab test soon.

I have read in the features and services guide for CUCM 8.5 "the first
version that should replace the CUMA" is that CUMC can now register
directly to CUCM without the need for CUMA server...however what about
connectivity...the document say that CUMC uses single port to
communicate to CUCM...then what should I do? Just do a static entry on
the firewall to forward requests on this port to CUCM?...I don't think
that will be a good idea and a lot of big enterprise will defiantly
refuse this approach.

Unlike CUMA...you setup the ASA as a proxy server with certificate
authentication of the client "CUMC"...is the same doable with CUMC?

The SRND has be the best run-down of the differences. Check out the
"Mobility Beyond the Enterprise" section, specifically the difference in
the dual-mode clients and CUMC.

It really comes down to what phone you have, what version of the
mobility client, and what CUCM version you have.

Dear all;

It have been said here before that starting CUCM 8.5 a CUMA server is no
longer required, can anyone shade some light on how the design will look
like? How the CUMC client on the phone connects and get its
information...will ASA be required or not??

I think this topic is causing a lot of confusing...if anyone has a
document that clearly explains how this replacement is achieved.
