[cisco-voip] SIP, g711 and PVDMs for transcoding

Depending on your ccm version, if you are 8.6(X) and later you can avoid needing to allocate MTP for early offer. The only media resources that you would need would be for transcoding (711/729). If you change your unity and other apps to use the codec used by the majority of devices, you can definitely cut down your DSP requirements.

Subject: [cisco-voip] SIP, g711 and PVDMs for transcoding

Hello Cisco VoIP List,

I have a client who is interested in SIP trunking, and I'd like to verify if we need to allocate PVDMs for this the same way we do with PRI channels. It seems to me that we might be able to get away without them if we're using the same codec internally as the carrier (g711).
