[cisco-voip] UC on non-Cisco VMware hardware?

This makes me very happy. I'm searching like crazy to see all the neat
things they've done to allow for this. It's interesting, they seem to
"require" a 1:1 ratio for physical and vCPUs, but with the exception of
Unity that uses affinity, I don't see how they're enforcing it...short
of good-faith.
Also, it looks like while I can use "any" level of VMware, in order to
use vCenter (required, I think) I still have to purchase a license of at
least vSphere Standard, so the free license is not an option. Or did I
read it wrong? Not that I would recommend using it that way, but I need
to present all the options.

They have had specs based for a while restricted to HP/IBM, maybe <1
month ago, they now are expanded to specs based for any hardware
provider.
The DocWiki is generally THE reference for what is/isn't allowed and
that page is exactly what you need to be reading.

Last I heard (around 8.5) Cisco did not support UC on anything but their
hardware for virtualization. Now I'm reading this:
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/UC_Virtualization_Supported_Hardware#.22Ca
n_I_use_this_server.3F.22
and it looks like that may have changed since I was last in the loop.
Can anyone weigh in on this? Is it now accepted, what are the
restrictions, etc.?
