[cisco-voip] java vs non-java software download differences (days vs hours)

ok, so i thought to myself, try out this fancy java based downloader. yeah, well, it's got something like 47 hours to download a file vs 1 hour with the non-java version. 

i like the idea of a simple process, but this seems a bit much. 

what are other people's thoughts/luck on using the (new) tool ?
