My understanding is that the answer is "No," to updated IP communicator. I am also not sure of the true commitment to multi-line Jabber support. I have yet to see any dates around multi-line Jabber at this point, which my experience with Cisco say's don't count on it or expect it.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Curiosity: New IP Communicator
I'm assuming no on this question, based on the fact that I haven't heard even an inkling, and I know they're working on multi-line support for Jabber, but I was wondering: Has anyone heard anything about them possibly coming up with a new IP communicator that is based on the 8800 series code? I think that'd be great, and even better if they made it based on 8845 code, so it could use video as well, short of getting everyone to use jabber.
