Subject: Greetings Greenies
Happy to join this supplimental list. Like many, Heathkits are close to my
heart. First adventure was in '56 with the receiver later joined by a DX-40.
Replaced the ARC-5 that worked all TVs in my little home town.
Returned to ham radio in 74 via Heathkit. Was based in Saigon as a television
reporter and built a HW-101 during Watergate, when one could not get on the air!
Other memory is of stepping over Collins KWM-2s, S-lines, etc. while walking
from my apartment to the bureau. Only the 101 made it back home after the war.
Have a garage full of parts DX-100s (4), one working and the major project...
restoring the DX-100 I helped build as a kid. That's the good news. The bad
news is that I helped build it! We musta used a 150 w American Beauty to solder
the thing. When time permits, I plan to go thru the book step by step and get
this beauty going.
Currently running a SB-101, HW101, Apache, and am close to bringing a Marauder
on line. Usual variety of HO-10/SB610 scopes, VTVMs, power meters, etc. either
on line or on the shelf. Have built the collection of ham gear from the DX-100
onward.
Again, thanks for the list. Nice to connect with the folks who love the
Green/grey!
