HW-100 Repair help UPDATE...

Hello again,

I have a new clue to the problem I am having with
my HW-100. Whenever I return to receive from
transmit, there seems to be a looooong AGC lag
before the receiver is back to full operation.

I have since played with it some more, and it
is directly associated with the functions of the
'Mic Level/CW Drive' pot. When I have the pot
advanced to where the power output is maximum,
the AGC lag is also at the peak. If I quickly
twist the knob CCW when completing the transmission,
the lag is MUCH shorter, and more along the lines
of what I would accept.

Is there an internal adjustment that correlates the
CW Drive level with the AGC level for the receiver
somehow? There is most definitely a correlation
betweent this knob and the problem I am having.

Another note -it's much worse after the rig has
been on for a few minutes. After initial warmup,
the AGC lag is non-existent. After 10 minutes of
CQ'ing a dead band at midnight <gg>, the lag then
becomes 10 seconds or so. Weird, huh? But if
I turn the CW Drive knob way down BEFORE the VOX
kicks me back to receive, it ain't bad.

Any ideas? It's too late tonight to dink with it
any more!!! Ain't boatanchors fun? I LOVE 'em!
(Ok - the HW-100 is not a BA like my Globe Scout
and SX-100, but close!)
