Hi All:

Wow, the power of the Heath usenet group comes through again.  Michael
(VE3MKX) called it.  Michael asked me to double check the conducting rubber
seal on the LCD display.  When I checked it out, the conducting seal was
doubled over the non-conducting rubber seal in one tiny spot, thus making a
poor contact.  Once I could see this defect, it was very easy to fix.

Thanks for everyone else who wrote with their good ideas.
