6146 et al.

Hi all,
There has allways been some confusion as to the relationship between these
various versions of the basic 6146.  A reprint of an article from CQ in 1964
is at the URL below, and may offer some insight and a few caveats on the
substitution.  It appears that there is the possibility of losing the power
supply, if the "B" or later is substituted for the "barefoot 6146" and then
being loaded to take advantage of the higher plate dissipation.  Well worth
reading.
