The 1981 Radio Handbook by Bill Orr has a brief explanation on page
11.7, section 11-2; I don't know if more recent editions have it.
He said to use a paste of #400 carborundum powder and water, and
gently grind only one face on a piece of plate glass (optically flat),
using slight one-finger pressure and a figure-8 pattern. Clean, dry,
and check for raised frequency after a few passes.
Rubbing clean soft solder on the face can slightly lower the frequency
if you go a little too far.
