Antique Electronic Supply (AES) still sells transfer lettering. If you coat it with clear, it
holds up pretty well. I did that for my "Tx VFO", "Rx VFO" switch on my SB-400. Silkscreened panels are, of course, much nicer but
cost.
Computer printouts work great for dial scales.
