How to free up wafer switches?

An OT friend of mine once had a Yaesu FT-102, which were notorious for the
failure of the relay contacts internal to the rig...

His solution? Once every year, or so, he'd spritz a LIGHT blast of WD-40
onto the relay contacts. He claims to have never had a problem with his
relays by doing this...

Perhaps the rotary coils in ALL our rigs could benfit from the same
treatment.
