RE EL34 tubes

I do repairs for many music artists amps here, brands like Fender, Marshall,
Mesa Boogie ect

In most cases you need to increase the screen resistor from 470 (6L6) to 1K
with a EL34/KT90
Also many amplifiers use the blank pin 1 on a 6L6 socket (Cathode and G3
internally connected )as a tiepoint for grid resistors,
simply plugging in a EL34 may get you a suprise and visa versa (shorted bias
"EL34 to 6L6").
Usually, you need to move something on pin 1.
Once a socket is properly modified power tubes are interchangeable with a
bias adjustment and sometimes a feedback tweak.
1K ohm on the screens is fine for both types of tubes.
NOTE :"This is the case with the gear I work on here"

The Svetlana EL34 is the most popular right now for rock n roll players at
the bang for the $$
NOS Phillips and Blackplate RCA's 6L6 and Mullard EL-34 for the guys with
money
