Calibrating VFO in HW-101

Hello. I tried to calibrate by the book. Adjusting the vfo coil while radio is on 500 mark on dial, then turning down to the 0 mark on the dial and adjusting the trimmer screws. The problem, when you turn the vfo coil it moves the 0 setting lower, I have the trimmer screws all the way out and still the signal is under 0.
Am I missing something? Greg.
