I think the abbreviated list is all we need. Most folks want to know what
else they can use in place of Heath's parts which are mostly no longer
available. I don't know of anyone looking for the exact replacement
resistors or capacitors unless they're talking about those large
electrolytic cans. Anyone looking to find parts would also do well to get a
copy of the NTE replacement parts guide as well as a Digikey and Mouser
catalog.

Just to clarify something. The real Heath PMF, Parts Master File, was
actually a green-bar printout of ALL parts Heath used. It was a book of
11 x 15" paper over 6" think, running over 1500 pages. It listed the
most important aspects of each part: material, size, major
electrical/electronic specs, etc; depending on the part. In short, it had
any part number Heath used or assigned, even for parts packs in kits.
The PMF under discussion here, I think, is the "abbreviated" version used
in the Heathkit Electronic Centers (retail stores). It ran usually less
than 100 pages and had mostly the active parts: transistors, ICs, tubes,
diodes. I don't remember how much info was in the HEC PMF other than
part number, generic part number (if available), pricing and status
(ACTive, OBSolete, No Longer Available).
Just so you know.
