No problems!

Remember that the tolerances on the old capacitors
were -50 / +80 percent. The new ones are usually +/-
20%.

Thus, the 40 mfd could have been as low as 20 mfd and
as much as 72 mfd; the 50 mfd could have been as low
as 25 mfd or as high as 90 mfd; the 80 mfd could have
been as low as 40 mfd or as high as 144 mfd.

The new capacitors would range from 80 mfd to 120 mfd
for the 100 mfd ones and from about 38 mfd to 56 mfd
for the 47 mfd ones.

You can get new capacitors from Mouser as well as
several other sources.

Any silicon diode with at least the same current
capability and voltage rating will work fine. If you
can get either, or better yet, both, in a higher
value, then that would be better.

There were 4 sections to the can; two 80mfd sections
as well as a 40 and a 50mfd section. I can get 100mfd
caps to replace the 80's and thought about using
47mfds for the 40 and 50mfd sections.

Does anyone see a potential serious problem in
substituting the values I mentioned?
