Another thing that removes just about any kind adhesive and is relatively
harmless to most plastics is Lighter Fluid. Both cigarette lighter fluid and
barbecue starter will work well to soften the adhesive once the paper or
plastic coating has been removed on the label or tape.
Like Neil said, old dried out adhesive (especially masking tape) can be
stubborn and may need to soaked for a bit.
