Dale,
If you are using a SB-301 with the SB-401 in the transceive mode, three
signals are sourced from the 301 and sent to the 401: they are HET (the band
crystals), BFO (usb, lsb crystals) and LMO. If you have all these
connected -- via 24" RG62 cables -- you do not need the LSB and USB crystals
installed in the 401. You do need the 3395.4 KHz crystal since that's the
TUNE crystal that sets the carrier in the center of the filter.

The SBA-401-1 crystal pak is the LSB, USB and 8 heterodyne crystals that
allows the SB-401 to operate in a stand-alone mode without the SB-301.
