Wagging DX-35 Meter

This is exactly the subject I broached 9 months or so ago on this list
and the boatanchors list - my specific question was with regard to the
meter on an EICO 723 (? hope I got that right - anyways the less
expensive xmtr) which bounced like crazy with a settling time of 50 or
60 years (I'm exaggerating - it only seemed that long - probably 1 to 2
seconds in real time). The general reply was that was normal for the
type of meter (iron vane) used in the less expensive radios to save a
few bucks. Apparently the more expensive radio's using a more expensive
meter with a better movement (my spelling 'brain' is off-line so I
won't try to write it down). I guess when I was younger I never
noticied the banging around or I only used the 'high end' transmitters
(such as the EICO 720). Who knew. You'll probably get several replies
for those more in the know.
