Screwdriver Antenna, Not Really Off Topic

I think you should get one of the verticals meant to be permanently
installed and put in some radials and tune it properly. The screwdriver is
the best you can do on a car, but unless you do a ground system it's pretty
marginal for a fulltime antenna...

In your situation, I'd look at a vertical wire pulled up in a tree as far as
possible, also with at least a few radials going away from the house. If it
comes down just outside the shack, you cando a good job of tuning the
feedpoint without going outside. The impedance will vary widely...very low
when it's a quarter wave and very high when it's a half wave. Should be fun
to learn to make it work!

Subject: Screwdriver Antenna, Not Really Off Topic

This may be slightly off topic, but where can one get antenna related
information except from other hams.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of antenna? I am looking for
a small, tunable antenna for 80-10 meter coverage in a small package. I have
an extremely wooded lot with no room for a dipole. I am also considering
this type for mobile and portable operation.

Any comments about reliability, usefulness and functionality would be
appreciated. Any information about specific manufacturers would also be
appreciated.
