SB/HW fixes

Ah yes, don't you just love it?

first things first.

pull the tubes, one at at time, then reset them. breaks off crud on
the pins. make use the right tubes are in the correct sockets.

the 6HS6 in the front end tend to go bad, they're really expensive! so
you may have 6AU6s in place. They're ok to use here.

the het osc is really the place to start. Generally, just a peak of
the coils will start the circuit.

I don't recall the test point, but you connect your vtvm to the test
point and tweak for max voltage, just back off a hair. without out
this oscillator running, you won't get a thing!

Try the calibrator then on 80 meters, the receiver section of these
transceivers have lots of gain, but even the most screwed up will be
able to hear the calibrator on this band.

Once you get a signal, then move to the tx. again, use 80 meters.
There's two 100-ohm resistors between the cages underneath the chassis
that tend to cook. you can see them right by the side rail.

tighten all the hardware on tall the pcbs.

check to be sure the cw/ssb filter switch in in the ssb position, if
you have it set in cw and someone copped the filter, you're dead in
both tx and rx.

all the SB/HW series (SB104 not included!) are really easy to trouble
shoot. Fixing them can be a real challenge!

A man with one clock knows what time it is. A man with two clocks is
never sure.
