Carl,
I have the same problem but I used a stiff bristle (non-metallic) brush to
get most of the particles off the covers. A little heat from a hair dryer
may help loosen the foam. It is possible the box was stored somewhere that
the heat was high enough to soften the paint. I remember someone who is
selling touchup paint. It may be the new Heathkit guys in California.
What have you been using as a cleaning agent?

Howdy,

Anyone ever rebuild the vernier for the main tuning cap in a Knight kit
R-100A? Mine has a lot of slack in it and doesn't want to turn at all even
though I'm turning the knob at a feverish pace. Eventually it will catch and
start turning the main tuning cap but it takes quite a few turns.

Any advice appreciated,

Thanks,

Carl KA5KAB

Pulled it out of the box to use it and found the top cover foam stuck to it.
Been trying to get the side covers clean but the paint comes off with the
foam. Does someone have a way to get the foam off without taking the paint
with it?
