[cisco-voip] H323 Tone on Hold

If you are getting tone on hold it means CUCM isn't able to allocate
an MOH server to play the assigned MOH source configured for the
holding device. The frequency of the beeps can be specified at the
gateway level (if MGCP or SCCP gateway).

To disable tone on hold for SCCP devices you set the service
parameter for tone on hold timer to 20000. This should affect any
device controlled by CM (ie not H.323 gateways).

By changing the parameter you noted below to "Use ANN for Ring Back"
this will cause CCM to invoke Annunciator to play tone on hold to the
gateway instead of having the gateway generate it. By having ANN
play tone on hold, how often you hear the tones can be set via the
service parameter.

I found this under Service Parameters>Call Manager Service. The
choices are:

User Info for Call Progress Tone (Default) - I have this selected
H.225 Info for Call Progress
Use ANN for Ringback

any idea what would not break my current operation but get rid of my
Tone on Hold?

Send H225 User Info Message: <mime-attachment.gif>	This parameter
specifies which message Cisco CallManager sends for the ringback tone
or tone on hold. Valid values follow:
Use ANN for Ring Back: Use Cisco SCCP Annunciator to play ringback
tone (available in Cisco CallManager release 4.0 and later)
User Info for Call Progress Tone: Send H.225 user information message
to IOS gateway to play ringback tone or tone on hold (This is the
default.)
H225 Info for Call Progress Tone: Send H.225 information message to
IOS gateway to play ringback tone or tone on hold
Cisco CallManager Version 3.1 does not support the H.225 Information
message, so choose 'User Info for Call Progress Tone' if you are
using intercluster trunks and any of the clusters is running Cisco
CallManager Version 3.1 or earlier. However, if all of the clusters
are running Cisco CallManager 3.2(2a) or a later release, you can
choose 'H225 Info for Call Progress Tone.'
  	This is a required field.
Default: User Info for Call Progress Tone

Go to enterprise parameters, and uncheck "H.225 Info for Call Progress"

I do not want music on hold or tone on hold, just sweet silence!

Did you put the ccm-manager music-on-hold command in the config?
That is still required.

Subject: [cisco-voip] H323 Tone on Hold

I have some H323 locations and have discovered that
callers are getting "tone on hold" when placed on hold at the site
Not happening on MGCP sites and on internal calls. Anyone have any
idea how can I get rid of this at H323 sites?

CUCM 6.1.1b IOS 12.4.12a

Thanks!
Steve
