I wish Cisco (note to Wes and Ryan)
was as good as Microsoft is at listing which exact product and IOS versions that a particular document was meant for.

Too many pages on their site show things that only work on older hardware or IOS.
And yes, some pages do mention "lab tested with 12.2 code, factory defaults"

But that's not the same as listing out all the versions of code and types of hardware that would support a given set of commands or configuration.

Microsoft does it --- Cisco is ten times better than Microsoft.

Why does Cisco have to be the BellSouth dinosaur, years behind the mark on documentation relevance and accuracy
when even Microsoft can do better?

Thanks for following up Jason. I've seen on more than one occassion documentation saying one thing, then revised to say another. Personally, I know that documentation can be hard to keep up to date, but you'd think something as simple as whether or not a phone model is supported would be fairly easy. ;)

Well I found the case and the compatibility matrix I was given.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp1627480

However, it is looking supported, but the release notes say it was changed

5/29/09

Revised information about upgrading from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 5.1(3x) to 7.1(2) in Table 4 . Revised information on Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7936G Firmware Version 3.3(10) - SCCP. Replaced Cisco Unified Personal Communicator compatibility table in this matrix with cross-reference to compatibility matrix for that product. Revised Table 62 to add Data Migration Assistant (DMA) Release 7.1(2).

Good to know I guess…(my case was on 7/29/08)

Well what I had noticed is that it appears they finally removed the character limit on passwords. When I originally typed in my password when I setup my account it was 10 characters, until yesterday a shortened version always worked today I saw the new signon screen and the 10 character version was required.. which is kinda scary as I think it means the old passwords couldn’t have been hashed….

Cisco's website is having issues-

I just had to call and get mine reset to get an IOS image downloaded.

Couldn't even get logged in, they had to reset my CCO pwd myself.

They say they'll have it fixed later on...

Thanks Jason. It would be good to know what they said. I know that TAC is by the letter, so for example, they may say that 7912 is not supported on 7.1(3) b/c of EOL, but we're pretty sure it will work. Or at least we hope so, with 4000 of them. ;)

I'm looking for the TAC case (have to reset my password, and it is taking forever). Maybe I remembered the model # wrong. I'll let you know when I find it

Lelio,

Usually they talk out of their anus. That's how they came up with it. :P
