[cisco-voip] PSAP sees Billing Telephone Number, not DID associated with phone

Your PSTN provider can chose to:

    1. ignore all PBX settings and apply the billing telephone number
    2. pass only telephone numbers that you are billed for on that billing telephone number and ignoring all others
    3. pass any telephone number that you apply (even 0000000000)

This typically depends on your agreement. So, if AT&T is telling you that they don't block the calling number, you should be good to go.

That being said, in Canada only LDNs have directory listings associated with them (hence the acronym: listed directory number), DIDs have no directory listing associated with them. So if you dial 911 with a DID as the calling number, the PSAP gets a blank screen. This is fixed by subscribing to the PSALI service which allows you to update the address associated with DIDs.

External calling masks are set on the phone, route pattern, route list (or group?), and gateway - in order of trumping. You'll have to check down the line to see if your 911 route patterns, router list, group, etc have an external calling mask set on them.

Subject: [cisco-voip] PSAP sees Billing Telephone Number, not DID associated with phone

Hi,

We purchased a PRI (Cisco 2851 Gateway) from ATT, and while testing I find out the PSAP only sees the BTN when I make a test 911 call. I called the ATT trouble line and they told me they never block the calling number and that it is configurable on each PBX.

Are they correct and is it a setting I can change to allow the PSAP to see individual DIDs?

Thanks,
