[cisco-voip] reporting on (not)used phones or desks (cisco at cips.nl)

Variphy has the ability to report on devices that essentially makes 0 calls. Or any threshold too. Variphy would require data dump or Billing Application Server set up in CUCM to send it CDR. A portion of the report builder allows you to search on the phones not logged in or with no CDR data. They have free demonstration/evaluation and support if you are enrolled in an evaluation. I'm sure they can assist you to help get you what you are looking for.

This looks interesting, thank you for the link.

I quickly looked at the solution and it seems a nice and complete product.

However it still seems some work and maintenance to get this working.

How will this work with phones not logged in and users logged in to phones via extension mobility?

It looks like I have to enrich the data collected by this tool manually.

Any experience whit this?

Kr,

Henk

variphy.com <http://variphy.com> has a report that looks at CDR records and will give you a report on directory numbers that have not been used, but you would need to build a database of CDR records on Variphy or import them if you archived elsewhere.

I?m looking for a solution to get some reporting details on the usage of the desks.

We need to cut-down the number of desks and I want to see which desks are not used, preferably by floor.

Are there any tools you use to get this visible?

I was thinking of a phone report of phones which have not been used for a specific period of time, or maybe do something with extension mobility?

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Well, apparently, CUCM enabling of ports overrides the router configuration.

I did have all four ports configured. After deleting those two ports, the running now matches the startup.

This is very weird. Is there a configuration command that says only download configuration for the ports I've enabled?

This report works purely off of CDR data, so the report will only be as
good as the data. Let's say you have the last 6 months of CDR data
archived on an SFTP server. You can upload that into Variphy and let it
process it and then run the report. It will tell you what phones have not
been used in the last 6 months, including your extension mobility DN's.
The report is easy to setup and they have good documentation for it.

Request a demo from them, the product is very good for this plus other
features.

That was definitely one issue. I was pretty sure I entered that command manually, but apparently not. So that's why the last one did not come up.

Still very weird. I had always assumed that the router asked for the configuration for enabled ports only.

The router gets the whole config snip it CUCM thinks it needs via TFTP. If you don?t want cucm to configure the ports, then you don?t put a config on the ports in CUCM.

I agree with Evgeny, it looks like the router is short DSPs for the PRIs.

That was definitely one issue. I was pretty sure I entered that command manually, but apparently not. So that's why the last one did not come up.

Still very weird. I had always assumed that the router asked for the configuration for enabled ports only.

Well, apparently, CUCM enabling of ports overrides the router configuration.

I did have all four ports configured. After deleting those two ports, the running now matches the startup.

This is very weird. Is there a configuration command that says only download configuration for the ports I?ve enabled?

OK ? Having a weird issue. I was pretty sure that the router config took precedence over CUCM (with respect to enabling ports).

I?ve got four of the four ports configured on CUCM. So not sure why three are being configured on the router.

Very strange!

If we have an externally available number to access Unity voicemail, is there anyway of changing it so that it doesn't prompt asking for phone number to dial? You can hit * to enter your extension and passcode, but only if you remember to hit *.
